HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Custom Walnut or Confused Mutt?

Welcome everyone to the 212th Edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the custom Springfield ATC was just fudd crap.

HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Custom Walnut or Confused Mutt?

Similar to bullpups, I’m not sure when the skeletonized AR fad started, but once again we find ourselves looking at yet another over-the-top custom rifle.  I’ll give credit where credit is due when it comes to a nice optic, but adding a 20 MOA riser to a 16 rifle seems a little excessive.  Even more when you consider it has a PDW-style stock, but I digress.

Even if this was the greatest muzzle device ever designed, I don’t think I could bring myself to use one. Maybe I’m just a purist in that regard or maybe I just own too many suppressors. I just don’t see a reason to spring for over-the-top muzzle devices on AR pattern rifles. To those new shooters out there, I promise you, the recoil isn’t bad.  But hey, if it puts solid groups downrange that’s great.  I don’t think it’s a shade under $5k great.  But hey, to each their own.

What do you think? Is this custom Battle Arms AR-15 worth it for the price or are you better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere?  As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
