New CCI Uppercut .22LR Self-Defense Ammunition

Although the .22 Long Rifle is not generally considered a good defensive round, there are still people who use firearms chambered in .22LR for self-defense purposes. There can be many reasons for opting for a .22LR gun such as weak grip strength, recoil sensitivity, price, etc. Well, for those who chose the .22LR for defensive use, CCI Ammunition has a new product – the CCI Uppercut, a self-defense .22LR ammunition optimized for semi-auto pistols with 2.5″ to 4″ barrels. Let’s take a look.

CCI @ TFB:

Protection should always be personal. Built for how you carry. Crafted for how you defend. Sized to match any shooter. CCI Uppercut answers that call, with power and performance traditional 22 LR ammunition has never been able to deliver.

CCI Uppercut (5)

CCI Uppercut cartridges are loaded with 32-grain jacketed hollow point bullets that are launched at a muzzle velocity of 950 feet per second (out of a typical short-barreled handgun) which will result in a muzzle energy of 64 foot pounds. The jacketed bullets are used to decrease barrel fouling and allow for uniform, consistent and reliable expansion. The advertised penetration depth in ballistic gelatin is 8 to 10 inches. CCI notes that the Uppercut ammo is not designed to provide deep penetration, the priority here is expansion and weight retention.
