This Photo Of The Day might look like a commercial for the featured product, but that’s not the original intention. It’s just a great photo (which is very difficult to capture correctly) of what this kind of optical setup looks like for the operator. We have a Vortex riflescope (not sure exactly which one, but likely a Razor HD Gen III 1-10×24 FFP) on magnification, and an Aimpoint Micro in a Scalarworks Kick/04 offset mount.
I use a similar setup for my competition rifle (but with another scope and mounts), and I prefer using closed red dots (like the Aimpoints) over open ones because they’re more durable. I also prefer the Micro over the ACRO, since it’s better to have a round window than a square one as you tilt the rifle – but that’s just my take on things.
The Scalarworks mount is just $119 and will give you an excellent opportunity to combine magnified optics (or just on 1x), with a red dot.
Below you can see the KICK/02, which works with the Trijicon RMR.
Finally, the KICK/03 places your Aimpoint ACRO on the side. All these mounts can be either right or left-handed.
