[SHOT 2024] Nemo Introduces New 9mm Mongoose Carbine

At SHOT Show 2024, Nemo Arms has announced the introduction of a new 9mm carbine named the Mongoose. The carbine uses CZ-pattern 35-round magazines supplied by Magpul and comes with a non-reciprocating charging handle that can be on either the left or right side of the weapon. The product is expected to debut in April 2024

The new offering employs a proprietary operating system reminiscent of a Glock handgun. A noteworthy feature that stands out significantly is the Mongoose’s unique low recoiling mass. This innovation has been made possible by implementing a short-recoil operating system, providing a stark contrast to the conventional straight blowback system. As stated by Nemo Arms, this particular upgrade offers a robust, and proficient operation style for the carbine.

Field stripping and takedown of the Mongoose are designed to be swift and uncomplicated for the user. The front cap comes with an installed compensator and the forend is furnished with M-LOK slots, providing flexibility for accessory mounting. Additional features include a Picatinny rail on the top of the receiver and handguard, and another at the back of the receiver for stock attachment.

To ensure versatility for different users, the Mongoose carbines are planned to be shipped with optional iron sights or red dot, or with no sights at all. The safety is ambidextrous, enhancing the usability feature of the weaponry.

Regarding the physical specifications, the Mongoose boasts a compact 5.8-inch barrel, extruded aluminum upper receiver, and AR-pattern controls. The lower receiver is meticulously built from billet aluminum. Nemo Arms has set the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) at $1950.

In the ever-evolving realm of firearms, Nemo Arms’ Mongoose 9mm carbine steps up with its unique operational features and reliable construction. Whether the market accepts this new breed with open arms – only time will tell.
