PHLster Holsters has just released a new version of the classic “City Special” snub nosed revolver concealment holster that works with Taurus’ 856 TORO optics-compatible carry revolvers.
All PHLster City Special holsters are designed for AIWB (appendix inside the waistband) carry and are also compatible with PHLster’s unique Enigma concealment system, which lets nearly anyone carry and conceal a defensive handgun without the use of a traditional belt or pants. The City Special holster shell is ambidextrous and is designed to clear laser grips, which are often popular add-ons on smaller carry revolvers. Users can customize the level of retention to their liking via a screw near the trigger area. Until the addition of the new Taurus 856 options, the City Special holster has been available for the majority of nearly all Smith and Wesson J-frame models and a wide variety of Ruger LCR models as well.
“This has been a long time coming,” said Caleb Giddings, General Manager of Marketing for Taurus USA. “When we started planning the 856 T.O.R.O., one of my first phone calls was to the team at PHLster. The fact that they’re offering holsters for both the optics-ready gun and the standard 856 is just icing on the cake.”
The TORO version of the Taurus 856 product family is the first small-framed carry revolver that’s offered with an optics ready system. Because these are smaller guns, the optics mounting system is based on the smaller “slimline” footprints like the Holosun-K footprint or the Shield RMS-c footprint. All 856 models are chambered for .38 Spl. +P and hold a total of six rounds. Versions are available with both 2- or 3-inch barrel lengths and different finishes including stainless, black oxide or Cerakote. Prices for all PHLster City Special holsters start at $88.
