Sturm, Ruger and Company is celebrating its 75th year of making guns in the United States of America and will be releasing a special commemorative run of the SR1911 single-stack .45 ACP pistol to mark this occasion. This limited edition run has 750 total units that will be manufactured only in 2024. To add to their exclusivity, these SR1911s will have a special prefix of “R75” ahead of their normal serial numbers. The Ruger SR1911 is based on one of the most classic and iconic fighting pistols of all times, the 1911, and has some of the modern features found on the premium 1911s of today, such as a titanium firing pin, extended thumb safety, extended magazine release, an oversize beavertail grip safety and a visual inspection port that serves as a non-mechanical loaded chamber indicator.
Moreover, Ruger SR1911s have integral plunger tubes that hold tension for both the slide stop and the thumb safeties. On the original 1911 design, plunger tubes are staked on and run the risk of become loose and affecting the gun’s reliability and shootability. Its trigger is skeletonized with an adjustable set screw for overtravel as well.
