A small slip cost Simone Biles a chance at the podium in the balance beam at the Paris Olympics on Monday as Team USA failed to medal in the apparatus final.
Biles had a really good shot at getting a gold medal as several competitors who performed before her slipped as well. She needed a high score to top Italy’s Alice D’Amato but couldn’t quite complete her routine the way she wanted.
Biles scored a 13.100 in the competition
Suni Lee also fell off the balance beam during her routine and scored 13.100 herself.
D’Amato finished with a gold medal while Italy’s Manila Esposito picked up a bronze. China’s Zhou Yaqin got silver.
