First Look: TALO Ruger SR1911 Blue PVD

TALO Distributors, in collaboration with Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc., has recently been introducing a couple of special-edition Ruger SR1911 models, one of which is the new TALO Ruger SR191 Blue PVD chambered for the most classic of all 1911 calibers, .45 ACP.
The new TALO Ruger SR1911 Blue PVD is a full-size, single-stack pistol built on a government frame. It includes a 5-inch barrel along with many other features found on the standard full size Ruger SR1911 .45 ACP models. These include a low-glare, satin-stainless steel finish, Novak-pattern combat sights, a skeletonized trigger, a lowered and flared ejection port, skeletonized hammer and an extended beavertail grip safety. As this special edition’s model name suggests, many of its smaller parts are finished with a blue PVD coating. The shiny electric blue hue provides a visually striking contrast against the satin stainless steel frame and slide, as well as the special-edition G10 stocks that specifically ship with all TALO Ruger SR1911 Blue PVD pistols.
The various parts finished with this eye-catching blue PVD finish include the hammer, grip safety, grip screws, slide stop, trigger and barrel bushing. PVD stands for “physical vapor deposition”, an industrial method that consists of vaporizing a solid material and then applying it as a thin film over a bare metal surface in a vacuum. The PVD process happens at the molecular level and results in extremely durable finishes.
