Beautiful Batch of Sebenza 31s Arrives at KnivesShipFree

A fresh new shipment of the legendary, incomparable Sebenza 31 has arrived at KnivesShipFree. This is the platonic ideal of the storied folder, with its recent internal and material upgrades in tow.
The Sebenza is without a doubt one of the most talked about – and written about – production knives in the world. Even though it has been around longer than some collectors have been alive, it was, and remains, a reference point, a knife to which just about any high-end folder aspiring to greatness must be compared. But the Sebenza’s reputation isn’t built on historical significance alone. The stripped down, no-nonsense simplicity of its design is elevated by a subtle but pervasive house style that has never been replicated – and CRK’s famously tight tolerances and exacting processes result in a knife that not only works well, but ages with incredible grace.
The Sebenza 21, the prior iteration of this design, released just as the knife community as we know it today was coming into its own, and when CRK revisited their flagship in 2020 to celebrate another decade in the business, they made very smart changes, further refining what was already one of the most finely-tuned models around. The most notable – and probably most requested – change was the addition of the ceramic ball lock interface, a signature CRK touch that they first introduced on the formidable Umnunzaan and later implemented on the Sebenza’s close cousin, the Inkosi.
Another change came more recently, and that is the change from S3X steel family to MagnaCut. It wasn’t long after MagnaCut debuted that folks began clamoring for the latest and greatest super steel to get paired with CRK’s enduring folder. MagnaCut’s balanced, high-performance characteristics suit the do-all utility of the Sebenza 31 perfectly, and it’s hard to imagine the knife in any other steel now that we have it in MagnaCut. The Sebenza 31 and MagnaCut were even born within a year of each other, 2020 and ’21 respectively – two notable knife highlights in a difficult period for the industry.
The new batch of Large Sebenza 31s at KnivesShipFree are here, but they tend to go fast. If you’re interested in the definitive Chris Reeve Knives experience but have been waiting for the right opportunity, now’s the time to act.
