Film Star Shawn Ashmore Releases First Production Knife Design

Civivi has a ton of design talent in their collaborator corral, but the new Guile folder is the first time that the company has teamed up with a TV and film star. Actor Shawn Ashmore makes his Civivi debut with this snazzy EDC folder.
You may know Ashmore from, well, all sorts of stuff. He’s been in X-Men movies, multiple video games, and is currently holding down a starring role in The Rookie, a crime procedural that has been running since 2018. He also now runs a fresh-faced company called Peace Neighbor, which is seeking to break into the general pocket tool market. The Guile itself is being manufactured by and released through Civivi, but its clean modern look fits right into the small but growing Peace Neighbor lineup.

Ashmore may be new to the knife design game, but he obviously knows what’s in trend-wise. Just take a look at the Guile’s blade, a 3.25-inch wharncliffe that screams “EDC.” Two enthusiast-approved opening methods are here too: a thumb cutout and a front flipper, both friendly for the lefties in the audience, not just the righties. Longrunning Civivi cast member 14C28N is the blade steel once again, backing up that wharnie with good edge holding and high stain resistance – not to mention the fact that it’s very newbie-friendly when it comes to sharpening.
An aerodynamic handle built from a stainless steel frame topped with G-10 (or Micarta, if you go with the damascus blade model) scales will happily house hands both big and small, and the pocket clip can be popped onto either said for left- or right-pocket carry. Being a liner lock, the Guile does retain a little righty bias, but it’s nothing that southpaws won’t be used to working with. At 2.87 oz., the Guile will be a low-key passenger whether it’s in the right or left pocket.
The Guile is available now.
