First Look: Davidsons Exclusive Walther PPK/S

Davidson’s, one of the largest distributors of firearms in the United States, is now showcasing a limited-edition production run of Walther PPK/S “Exquisite” models chambered in .380 ACP. The limited-edition version of a classic blowback-operated, double-action pistol which dates back to 1920s interwar Germany has only has 1,000 units. All of these Davidson’s exclusive pistols incorporate Turkish walnut grips with a brushed stainless finish, high-coverage scroll engraving, and 24-carat gold appointments including inlays, hammer, trigger, magazine release, and grip screw. In addition to this, all Davidson’s Walther PPK/S units have a special serial number prefixed with “JB”.

The Walther PPK/S can trace its lineage back to the original .32 ACP Walther PP and Walther PPK pistols which were some of the first commercially successful TDA (traditional double action) pistols ever sold. These guns enjoyed use by German security forces and detectives leading up to the Second World War. After the war, Walther began importing them to the United States and expanded its caliber options to include the .380 ACP cartridge as well. The Walther PPK went on to become an icon during the Cold War era as the fictional character James Bond’s sidearm of choice.
