Stoeger Industries has just released a new 9mm slim striker-fired polymer-frame carry pistol, the Stoeger STR-9 Thinline. While most of the modern crop of EDC (everyday carry) friendly striker guns tend to be micro-compact sized, Stoeger took a different approach with the new STR-9 Thinline, as its design is similar to other models such as the Glock 48 or the SIG-Sauer P365 FUSE, two pistols which have compact yet slim frames. Stoeger’s motivation was to have something to offer to customers with larger hands that wanted a gun that is easy to both handle and conceal and carry. Now, Stoeger already offers a true micro-compact 9mm carry gun, the Stoeger STR-9MC and the new Thinline is based on that model. The Thinline keeps the same width of less than one inch but has more “real estate” for the shooter’s grip.
The STR-9 Thinline’s slide is optics-ready and cut for the Shield Sights RMSc footprint, a popular slide-mounted red-dot optic format for any handgun with a thinner slide. Beyond the optics-ready slide cut, the front of the Stoeger STR-9 Thinline slide and barrel are also cut with an integral compensator to help reduce muzzle flip. This feature is like what is seen on models like the SIG-Sauer P365 X-Macro, Canik’s new Mete MC9 Prime or Smith & Wesson’s M&P Shield Plus Carry Comp series.
The standard non-restricted version of the new STR-9 Thinline includes 14 and 16 round magazines; buyers in restricted locales have the option to purchase an STR-9 Thinline that ships with three separate 10-round magazines.
