First Look: The Accountant Rifle

Leupold Optics has teamed up with Gunwerks to develop the new Accountant Rifle, a limited-edition, compact, tactical bolt-action rifle with parts that either fully collapse or disassemble in order to fit inside a standard-size business briefcase. This one-of-a-kind rifle itself is built around a Remington 700 pattern short-action and is chambered in .308 Win. The Accountant makes use of a quick-detach .308 Win. 17.5-inch 416R stainless steel barrel that is also suppressor ready. Crowning the receiver of The Accountant bolt action rifle is a Leupold Mark 5HD 2-10x30mm riflescope with a PR1 MOA reticle. The Mk5 HD 2-10×30 mm is one Leupold’s highest grade yet smallest “full-size” traditionally magnified tactical scopes. This member of the Leupold Mk5 HD scope family is well-suited for engagements from 10 to 1,000 yards, making it an natural extension of this rifle.

The Accountant isn’t just a rifle, however; it’s a complete rifle system that is fully contained in a locking leather briefcase. Custom-fit foam inside the briefcase ensures that the rifle is protected during transport.

The Accountant Rifle Features:

  • .308 Win. Federal Custom Shop ammo (100 rounds included)
  • JTAC chassis with a collapsible stock
  • Leupold Mark 5HD 2-10x30mm scope
  • 17.5-inch stainless steel machined barrel with a titanium sleeve suppressor
  • Two five-round magazines

The Federal Premium Custom shop also participated in this project by developing customized .308 Win. loads optimized to be shot from this compact bolt-action rifle. These custom-loaded projectiles make use of Federal’s 175-grain Terminal Ascent projectile. This classic rifle chambering was selected for its performance potential with barrel lengths as short as 11.5 inches.
