Viridian Weapon Technologies RFX44 Closed Emitter Green Dot

Sometimes, big things come in small packages, which is preferable when it comes to pistol optics. For this reason, Viridian Weapon Tech condensed the RFX45, launched earlier this year, to introduce the RFX44. Like its predecessor, the RFX44 features a closed emitter design and utilizes a green dot emitter for better visibility.

Delivering shock-resistant operation, suitable for rifles or powerful handguns, the RFX44 features a durable aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum construction. Likewise, hard coat anodization ensures that the optic can handle hard use in harsh environments. Similarly, an IPX6 waterproof rating protects the unit from heavy rain or other high-pressure water exposure.

Built with a focus on refinement, the RFX44 is smaller than its predecessor and is slender enough to fit the Shield RMSc footprint. However, the ACRO native sight is adaptable with a total of four mounting plates. These include RMR and Picatinny mounts in two heights.

Despite its smaller size, the closed emitter design features a large viewing window for fast target acquisition. In fact, the RFX44 provides a field of view 25% larger than other compact closed emitters, according to the company. Likewise, the fully multi-coated lens, with a proprietary specially designed green coating, ensures optimal light transmission. As a result, the optic offers a crystal-clear viewing window and sharp, crisp green dot.

Housed within the optic, providing the aim point, is a 5 MOA green dot reticle. The green reticle capitalizes on the human eye’s heightened sensitivity to green wavelengths. As a result, it is highly visible in a wide range of lighting conditions. Correspondingly, it features ten brightness settings with eight daytime and two night vision settings.

The user-friendly design of the RFX44 provides easy adjustment of windage and elevation. Correspondingly, the elevation has an overall adjustment range of 90 MOA, while windage has an adjustment range of 60 MOA.

Operating on a single CR1632 battery, the RFX44 provides 30,000 hours of operation. Battery preservation comes via a sleep feature that shuts the optic down after two minutes of no movement. However, an INSTANT-ON function wakes it up when it detects movement.
