Trump’s Special Envoy Claims Denmark Is Occupying Greenland

The rhetoric around Greenland is becoming increasingly absurd. United States ruler Donald Trump’s special envoy, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, has said that Denmark is occupying Greenland, in violation of United Nations (UN) rules.

On Sunday, Trump said the US will acquire Greenland – an autonomous territory of Denmark – “one way or another.” He also argued that Copenhagen is unable to provide security for the world’s largest island, quipping that it is only defended by “two dog sleds.”

After initially stating Trump would “pay off” the citizens of Greenland in order to buy it, he doubled down on a possible attack.

Trump Mulls Attacks On Iran And Greenland

After Trump’s Sunday post, Landry took to X to note that the U.S. protected Greenland during World War II. U.S. military facilities were set up on the Arctic island in line with a deal between Washington and Copenhagen in April 1941, a year after Denmark was overrun by Nazi Germany. “History matters. The US defended Greenland’s sovereignty during WWII when Denmark couldn’t,” he wrote, according to a report by RT.

And that’s the basis for the claim that Denmark is occupying Greenland, and it “officially” belongs to the U.S.

After the conflict ended, “Denmark re-occupied it – side-stepping and ignoring UN protocol,” Landry, who was appointed presidential envoy for Greenland last month, claimed.

The Danish ambassador to the US, Jesper Moller Sorensen, responded to the accusations shortly afterwards, insisting that “Greenland has been a part of the Kingdom of Denmark for centuries. That has repeatedly been recognized by US administrations, in the UN, and internationally.” –RT

Top Trump Aide: “Obviously, Greenland Should Be Part of the US”

Like the conflict with Venezuela, nothing good can possibly come from this war mongering insistance by the U.S. ruling class. The imperialistic methodology is only going to serve as a mechanism for war.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, which cited sources within the administration, Trump has ordered his senior commanders to draw up a plan for a potential invasion of the Danish autonomous territory.

Since the capture of Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro, Trump has dramatically escalated his rhetoric with regard to Greenland and reiterated his administration’s goal of taking it over.
